Wall collapses close to residential constructing in Wiliamsburg, Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (WABC) – The facade of a wall in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn collapsed, cracking bricks on the street.

It happened Wednesday morning in an apartment building on the South 3rd Street block of flats.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The Department of Buildings has issued a full eviction order for the building and has issued violations for lack of maintenance on the building.

Emergency removal assistance was offered to all tenants affected by the eviction order.

The DOB said it had ordered the building owner to hire a professional engineer and contractor to install a site fence around the side of the property and do emergency shoring.

Violations of the landowner include failure to maintain the building and failure to maintain the exterior walls.
