three injured after SUV collides with NYPD police cruiser in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN (WABC) – An SUV collided with an NYPD police cruiser Thursday night in Brooklyn, injuring three people.

The Ford Explorer driver was apparently trying to avoid traffic when he collided with the cruiser on Coney Island Avenue and Foster Avenue at around 7:30 p.m.

The SUV, which had no license plates, then hit a light pole and knocked it over.

29-year-old SUV driver Moshe Cohen was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, as were two police officers in the cruiser.

Cohen has a history of moving violations and previous accidents.

He is now facing multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, reckless driving, equipment violation, unauthorized colored lights on the vehicle, improper use of yellow light, a license plate violation: number plate display, non-compliance with traffic regulations, traffic regulation violation, violation Right of way: ambulance, collision with ambulance, and over speeding: careless speed.
