The Columbia Waterfront will get its first “Tastes Of Brooklyn” occasion

COLUMBIA WATERFRONT, BROOKLYN – The Columbia Waterfront District is next in line to crawl its own food and drink with Tastes of Brooklyn, the organization announced this week.

The crawl begins Saturday, September 14th and includes about a dozen restaurants on Columbia and Union Streets offering ticket holders tastings of their favorite foods and drinks.

This is the first time the “Tastes of Brooklyn” walk, previously opened in Gowanus, Red Hook and other nearby neighborhoods, has taken place in the waterfront neighborhood between Carroll Gardens and Brooklyn Heights.

This round’s selection includes iconic calzones from the House of Pizza and Calzones, Longshoreman’s fine dining, and three restaurants south of the border, not to mention the range of cocktails and beers.

Here’s everything you need to know to take part in the promotion:

When: Saturday, September 14th, 2pm to 6pm

Where: Food and beverage stores along the industrial, artistic, historic Columbia and Union Streets of the Columbia Waterfront neighborhood, along the East River boardwalk, south of Atlantic Avenue and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

WhatTicket holders simply head to the business outlets to sample an international selection of dishes, drinks, or foods that these business owners pride themselves on. Kids can visit Hip2B Healthy Market stalls for fresh juices and smoothies, a blender bike, and free soccer ball. A scavenger hunt is possible for all ages.

“Tastes of Columbia Waterfront” is the first fall event for “Tastes of Brooklyn”. Next up is a crawl in Gowanus on September 21st and the eighth Carroll Gardens-Cobble Hill Crawl on October 5th. Visit the website to purchase tickets and see a full list of fall tasting events.

The proceeds will support Seeds in the Middle programs to empower youth in the food deserts of central Brooklyn, including the obesity and diabetes epidemic, to create healthy Hip2B markets.
