The Brooklyn occasion induced a wave of purple carpet type moments

Wherever there’s a good reason, there’s a time to celebrate, and some of our favorites were in full swing at the 4th Annual TIDAL X: Brooklyn Benefit Concert this week. Jointly owned by music icon Jay Z, Tidal is committed to creating a more sustainable model for the music industry and supporting charitable causes. This year, the company’s annual charity event targeted criminal justice reform across the country. 100 percent of the net ticket proceeds are donated to charitable organizations such as # Cut50, Innocence Project and the Equal Justice Initiative. Performers included Teyana Taylor, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Meek Mill, The Lox with Lil ‘Kim and more. While most considered their look casual for the star-studded charity concert, there was certainly no shortage of jaw-dropping looks on the carpet. In between, some familiar faces talked to ESSENCE about how much time was spent creating their looks for the evening. Check out the video above to hear a little of what they had to say, then scroll down to check our red carpet gallery to see who is fit and on fire!
