Ten individuals injured after FDNY fireplace truck rides into minivan in Brooklyn
Ten people were injured when an FDNY truck hit the side of a minivan in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon.
That happened at the intersection of Driggs Avenue and South 5th Street in Williamsburg around 3 p.m., officials said. The fire engine responded to multiple fire calls when it collided with the blue minivan, which was badly damaged on the sides and front.
Of the 10 people injured in the accident, eight were in the minivan and two were firefighters. Six of the injured in the van are adults, the other two children; None of the injuries suffered were classified as life-threatening.
The cause of the crash is being investigated. Officials did not say how fast the fire truck could have been going or whether its lights and sirens were on at the time. It was also not known why the van could not avoid the truck.
