Taking pictures in Brooklyn: Police alternate fires with armed males on the Sumner Homes in Bedford Stuyvesant

BEDFORD STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) – A suspect is in custody after police exchanged fires with armed men in Brooklyn on Tuesday night.

According to authorities, officers were on routine patrol near the Sumner homes in Bedford Stuyvesant, where they saw people shooting at each other around 9:30 p.m.

Police also fired their guns, but there were no reports of anyone being hit by bullets.

Authorities said a man and a woman were shot dead along East 18th Street and Church Avenue at around 4:20 p.m.

Officials say two officers were taken to the hospital.

One person was taken into custody.

Police may also be pursuing another suspect who is believed to be hiding on a housing project.
