Stoop collapses in entrance of a three-story brownstone in downtown Brooklyn

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN (WABC) – Officials are on site after a staircase collapsed outside a building in Brooklyn on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 2 p.m. in a three-story brownstone at 626 Carlton Avenue.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the decorative stone arch crashed onto the front staircase from above the front door.

The stairs that led into the house crumbled under the force of the collapse.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Inspectors carry out a stability test of the building.

The residents were temporarily evacuated.
