SANTA MONICA, Calif., October 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Saatchi Art’s The Other Art Fair (“The Fair”), a leading international art fair promoting emerging and independent contemporary artists, is showing its features and programs for the sixth known edition in Brooklyn. Other Art Fair Brooklyn, in partnership with BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Gin®, is being held at the Brooklyn Expo Center November 7-10, 2019, where visitors can purchase artwork starting at $ 150 from 130 local and international independent artists. The program for this edition is inspired by the city’s creativity and diversity, with special creative workshops, immersive art installations and a range of local culinary specialties. The Other Art Fair also features new, interactive experiences, including the next edition of Get Nude, Get Drawn, an ongoing series of drawings by artists Mike Perry and Josh Cochran.

“Brooklyn gives the fair an inspiring and creative energy,” said Ryan Stanier, founder of the Other Art Fair. “As our very first US city to host the Other Art Fair, Brooklyn continues to introduce new promising emerging artists. As we continue to grow and push the limits of our programming, our team is inspired to introduce our visitors to new and exciting experiences such as the Get Nude, Get Drawn project. “

“We’re very excited to bring the Canvas Lab workshops to the other Brooklyn art fair,” said Tom Spaven, Brand Director of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE. “The Canvas Lab workshops are part of our larger #FindYourCanvas mission to encourage individuals to reconnect with their creative side. We hope these workshops inspire trade fair visitors to explore new canvases and find their own unique form of self-expression. “

This crowd-sourced artwork will be on display at the fair.

Fairgoers will receive reusable Bombay Balloon glasses on site that can be customized by illustrator Cat Willett.

Adi designed and manufactured custom wall sculptures for the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE bar and pedestals for the entrance installation. Inspiration comes from the work of Yaacov Agam and the large-format sculptures of the Lipponcott metalworking studio in the 1960s and 1970s.

Jen demonstrates her custom hand-drawn lettering in an interactive mural and asks the show attendees: “Why is creativity important?” Visitors can then choose a statement that suits them best and bring the appropriate BOMBAY SAPPHIRE cocktail suggestion sticker to the bar based on your statement.

Joe takes inspiration from the movement of gin and examines the balance and movement that lines, shapes and negative space can create in the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Canvas Lab Mural.

Camila Rosa is a freelance illustrator and designer from Brazil. As part of her global partnership, she created a large format mural for BOMBAY SAPPHIRE to encourage the creativity that will be shown at the Other Art Fair.

The Other Art Fair also features a central bar serving wine, beer, cocktails, and soft drinks, as well as a Maman pop-up cafe. Below are some of the featured features:

Get naked, get drawn
In 2011, artists Mike Perry and Josh Cochran introduced “Get Nude Get Drawn,” an interactive art experiment that celebrates “the nude” by using social media for non-professional models to pose naked for a two-day marathon session session.

During the Other Art Fair, each model will pose for a 30-minute drawing session with 8 notable artists, including Perry and Cochran, who will create as many portraits as possible during that time. The models will then be presented with one of their portraits and the rest will be sold at the fair.

“Get Nude, Get Drawn” has been shown at exhibitions in New York and London and gathered a talented list of participating artists and over 200 models who have participated in the project to date.

The Moving Booth by GIPHY Arts presents artists and works with movement in mind. It shows dynamic works of art by five talented digital artists who are building the awareness of the GIF as an artistic medium and format.

Selected artists:

The Gowanus Print Lab is running a free program of printing workshops through its brand new mobile printing lab. GPL is an artist-run, open-studio-style screen printing company dedicated to promoting community and education.

ArTech Collective offers artists with disabilities the opportunity to develop and express themselves through inclusive, innovative and accessible approaches to traditional and new media.

Brooklyn-based tattoo artist Rosa ‘Bluestone Babe’ Perr creates hand-pierced tattoos with her beautiful and unique designs. Tattoos start at $ 115 and are given based on availability.
