Jimmy Kimmel Returns to Brooklyn: See What He Eats

Talk about a delicious homecoming! Jimmy Kimmel returned to his hometown of Brooklyn on Saturday, October 19, to watch his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show for a week. in the popular New York neighborhood.

Kimmel’s annual Brooklyn-based show kicked off Monday, October 21st with Bruce Springsteen and Alicia Keys from the east coast, and is slated to end with performances from on Friday, October 25th John Krasinski, Jason Alexander, Tracy Morgan, former Late Show with David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer and pitcher of the New York Mets Noah Syndergaard.

While interviewing celebrities back home is exciting, the real draw for 51-year-old Kimmel is Brooklyn’s food scene, which includes world-famous delis, Italian restaurants that have been around for a century, and much more.

When the three-time Emmys host arrived for his annual residency earlier this month, he was paying a visit to the F&F Pizzeria in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood. He was so excited about the visit to the Italian staple that he shared an Instagram photo with the restaurant’s namesake, Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo. The snapshot also showed Kimmel’s youngest son, Billy (2), who smiled broadly on his father’s shoulders.

“Welcome Home!” wrote an Instagram user. Another added: “Great picture! I can’t believe that you made it to my new pizzeria in the neighborhood before me! “

The menu for the week also featured a few items from several of Brooklyn’s legendary delis, including Boerum Hill’s Mile End Deli and the Old Mill Basin’s Mill Basin Kosher Deli, which the nightly host enjoyed what appeared to be a pastrami sandwich. Knishes, chocolate babka and more as part of an elaborate lunch spread. “Best deli ever,” said a fan on Instagram. Another quipped, “I want to eat my way through Brooklyn too.”

As one social media follower jokingly put it when Kimmel ate his fourth high-calorie lunch of the week, “You have to gain a lot of weight doing your Brooklyn shows. Enjoy!”

This year’s culinary trip to his birthplace is not dissimilar to the trip to Brooklyn that Kimmel took almost exactly a year ago. During that visit, Win Ben Stein’s Money alum enjoyed fried chicken from David Changs Momofuku, pizza from Di Fara, and even got two massive calzones from L&B Spumoni Gardens courtesy of a New York colleague Kelly Ripa.
