four of NYC’s finest pizza slices are in Brooklyn, meals reviewer says

BROOKLYN, NY – Brooklyn has more top-rated pizzerias in the neighborhood than almost any other borough, according to a new ranking.

Four slices of pizza parlors in Brooklyn, including two in North Brooklyn, were recently named one of the “Top 12 Neighborhood Pizza Slices” in New York City by Robert Sietsema of Eater New York.

Only Manhattan has Brooklyn tied for the number of discs on the list. The ranking also included two discs from the Bronx, one from Queens and one from Staten Island.

In Brooklyn, the best slices came from Espresso Pizzeria in Bay Ridge, King’s Pizza in Midwood, Rogelio’s Pizza in Bushwick, and Danny’s Pizza in East Williamsburg.

According to Sietesma, Danny has the ziti piece.

“In many versions of this crazy slice, the pasta is too soft, but Danny’s ziti is al dente, which makes for better chewing, and the smothering of cheese makes this wonderful slice a satisfying full meal,” he writes.

The classic level is the way to Rogelio, he says.

“The slices are flat enough to be easily folded and eaten as you walk (the fabled ‘New York fold’) … For the fan of simple slices, welcome to nirvana,” says Sietesma.

Here are all 12 pizza slices Sietsema put on his eaters list:
