[Event Review] MK @ Shimanski, Brooklyn
Last weekend, Marc Kinchen aka MK took over the decks at Shimanski, the newly named Brooklyn nightclub that took over the prohibited area after it was forced to close its doors last year.
I’ve returned to the club for the first time since then. There were still the same layout issues, but that didn’t stop this crowd from dancing to a classic MK well into the night. Marc let Sascha Robotti open the night, who played into the morning. Sascha really heated up the audience with a nice tech radio.
Marc opened around 2am with “Oh Woman Oh Man (MK Remix)” and shortly afterwards dropped “Piece of Me”. The crowd was strong and there was no sign of subsiding or going home anytime soon. In typical Brooklyn fashion, a dance circle was formed when hits like “My Love 4 U” and Jodeci’s “Freek’n You (MK Dub Mix)” started.
At this point it is after 3 a.m. and MK is dropping hit after hit. Dance until I couldn’t dance anymore, it was worth coming home when the sun came up.
If you like funky house and techno then next time you are in your area, don’t miss MK.
