Driver arrested in runaway accident that killed a lady on the sidewalk in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN (WABC) – Brooklyn police arrested a woman in the fatal accident of a woman walking on the sidewalk.

It happened on Tuesday, August 24th at 9:23 pm near Thomas Boyland Street and Pacific Street.

According to police, 30-year-old Layla Adredini lost control of her 2003 white Ford Explorer and got onto the sidewalk.

She allegedly hit a 50-year-old man and 70-year-old Brenda Whidbee.

The Good Samaritans say she drove away on Pacific Street after the accident, but they were able to hold her there until the police arrived.

The injured 50-year-old was not there when the police arrived.

Whidbee was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Adredini is now charged with murder and attempted murder.
