1 Hotels and mindbodygreen have teamed up to celebrate the opening of the hotel on Earth Day, Saturday April 22nd, with a free, public mindfulness event at 1’s newest hotel in Brooklyn Heights.

The partnership features an Earth Day headline meeting at 1 hotels’ flagship 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, with supporting satellite activations in 1 other locations including Central Park, New York and South Beach, Miami.

“Every year on Earth Day the world pays tribute to our planet and uses it as an effective vehicle to build a healthy, sustainable environment, combat climate change and protect the earth for future generations,” says the Vice President for Sustainability of 1 Hotels Hotels, Amanda DeSantis. “Our core philosophy at 1 Hotels is that the world around us is beautiful and we want it to stay that way. So it was natural for us to host this first nationwide event to raise awareness of the world’s largest environmental movement. ”

Yoga, meditation and a performance by BELLA GAIA

Curated by mindbodygreen, the Brooklyn event features a variety of activities including rooftop yoga led by Los Angeles-based Caley Alyssa, group meditations led by Light Watkins and 1 Hotels in-house meditation leader, Biet Simkin, astrology readings with Bess Matassa from Mojave getting up and one-on-one sessions with Treatment by Lanshin, a wellness studio in Brooklyn. In addition, there will be a musical and visual performance by BELLA GAIA and live panel discussions, moderated by CEO and founder of mindbodygreen, Jason Wachob, on the topic of sustainability and broadcast live on Facebook / mindbodygreen.com.

Brooklyn vendors like Keap, Natchie, Matchaful, Devoción and more will be selling and tasting locally made foods, beverages, gift items, beauty and wellness products. Additional refreshments will be available through 1 hotels along with local vendors in the new DeKalb Market Hall, which will open later this spring, including Ample Hills Creamery, Bread & Spread and Jianbing Company.

Located at Pier 1, south of the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the hotel offers 194 guest rooms, including 29 suites with two to six bedrooms and The Riverhouse, its presidential suite, with most rooms offering panoramic views of the East River Brooklyn Bridge and the New York City skyline.

The headline event for 1 Hotel and mindbodygreen will take place on Earth Day (Saturday, April 22nd) at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge (60 Furman Street, Brooklyn NY) and in nearby Brooklyn Bridge Park from 12:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

1 Hotel Central Park – 1 Hotels and mindbodygreen will commission a bespoke Earth Day installation from Flower Girl’s local florist Denise Porcaro, inviting pedestrians to stop, enjoy the natural beauty, and snap a photo to help the NRDC. The installation will be on display in or outside of 1 Hotel Central Park and its Jams restaurant in the days leading up to Earth Day. 1 Hotel Central Park also offers guests the opportunity to give something back and do good:

  • TO BECOME ACTIVE 1 On Earth Day, Hotel Central Park is partnering with our friends at the New York Restoration Project to work with Columbia Sportswear and the Bronx Brewery to conduct a community cleanup. The activities take place in the Meatpacking District of New York City. After volunteering, everyone is invited to a seed planting workshop and free beer tasting from the Bronx Brewery at the nearby Columbia store.
  • GO GREEN 1 Central Park Hotel’s Lobby Farm Stand will host a tree stand during Earth Day week offering guests packets of seeds to plant after their stay.
  • HAND BACK Head to the bar at Jams for a special seasonal cocktail that will benefit the New York Restoration Project. The Don’t believe the florist Cocktail is made with basil from a NYRP community garden and retails for $ 17, with $ 1 of each cocktail going to NYRP.

1 hotel south beach – The brand’s property in Miami will feature a day of eco-celebrations and wellness activities that highlight the soul, being, spirit and movement:

  • SOUL – 1 Hotel South Beach, Dune Restoration Project, Citi Bike, and Surfrider Miami invite selected guests and locals to help restore the dune and learn about the effects of erosion on the ecosystem. Later in the afternoon, individuals of all ages can return butterflies to their natural habitat in the hatchery at the entrance to the center pool.
  • BE – The newly opened Factory building offers specialties with sustainable, plant-based dishes from chef Matthew Kenney from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., while a live DJ plays on the terrace outside.
  • UNDERSTANDING Connect with nature and the elements during the Sunset Elemental Flow & Mind Meditation on the garden house terrace.
  • MOVE – Spartan’s Coach Lawrence hosts Challenge Your Movement. Starting with an Animal Flow Warm-Up, the participants learn to improve mobility, strength and endurance outside on the lawn and to move inside for the first time later Spartan gym for a strength-based circuit training.
